SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING A DATA USING A MULTI-CARRIER

An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving data using a multi-carrier transmission scheme are provided to obtain diversity gain by utilizing ML(Maximum Likelihood) and OSIC(Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation) schemes. An apparatus for transmitting data based on OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple) includes a transmitter and a receiver(94). The transmitter generates sample data that at least two sample data form a matrix so as to estimate a distortion matrix based on IQ(Inphase/Quadrature imbalance) and a frequency response, and transmits the generated data. The receiver multiplies inverse matrix on the matrix with a reception signal, estimates a channel distortion matrix, calculates signals received from the transmitter with the estimated distortion matrix, and converts the calculated result into reception signals having a diversity gain.
