PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization and to prevent not only external effects but also a sneaked path or noise from an output buffer unit to an oscillation unit. SOLUTION: A crystal oscillator 1 comprises a base 2 holding a plurality of electronic component elements 4 including an oscillation unit 5 constituting an oscillation circuit 51 of at least a crystal vibrator 52 and a transistor 53 or the like and an output buffer unit 6 constituting an output buffer circuit 61 of at least an output buffer IC chip 62. Furthermore, the oscillation unit 5 and the output buffer unit 6 are provided on different surfaces of the base 2 and a grounded shield layer 7 is interposed between an arrangement area wherein the oscillation unit 5 is provided and an arrangement area wherein the output buffer unit 6 is provided.
