PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which prevents privacy from being injured by performing recording to an optical disk in such a manner that the password authentication is performed before a title selection screen is displayed. SOLUTION: A controller 4 makes a password input screen as shown in Fig. 5 based on a DVD-VIDEO format on the occasion of finalization. The controller 4 requests the user for input of the password and has the password determined. The controller 4 makes the title selection screen based on the DVD-VIDEO format. The controller 4 makes the information on an FP_PGC based on the DVD-VIDEO format. When the information of the FP_PGC is instructed of the reproduction of the contents recorded in the optical disk 100, a password input screen is displayed before the display of the title selection section and the display procedure displaying the title selection display screen is shown only when the inputted password is correct.
