PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a line defect from occurring by keeping a defect to a point defect even when an electron emitting element is short-circuited in use. SOLUTION: Signal wires 13 intersect with scanning wires 15, and an electron emitting element 16 is formed in an opening recessed part of each intersecting scanning wire 15. An upper electrode 51 of the electron emitting element 16 is connected to the adjacent scanning wire (the upper scanning wire in fig.) through a power-feed narrow part 52. An inverse tapered non-conductive piece 26 and a forward tapered conductive piece 66 are formed on the scanning wire 15, and the scanning wire 15 and the electron emitting element 16 are connected to each other by the conductive piece 66 and a forward tapered part 65. The upper electrode 51 and the power-feed narrow part 52 are formed by an upper electrode film 50 deposited on the whole surface of a display region. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
