PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burr detection method and a burr detection apparatus capable of highly accurately detecting burrs which occur in artifacts in a simple composition. SOLUTION: The burr detection apparatus is constituted of both an electrode 14 in which a capacitor 20 for measurement and for detecting the presence of burrs 7, their locations, and their sizes is inserted in a hole of a valve body 1, and a valve-body electrode opposing part 18 to be detected. It is possible to reduce the size of the capacitor 20 for measurement by having a part utilizing an existing valve-body electrode opposing part 18 (to be detected) for the capacitor 20 for measurement, and it is therefore possible to appropriately detect burrs even in a narrow region having a complicated shape. The electrode 14 is constituted of both a needle-like center electrode arranged approximately at a center part of one surface part of an electrode holding body and a same-potential surrounding electrode arranged around the needle-like center electrode as its center and having the same potential as that of the needle-like center electrode. Since the same-potential surrounding electrode suppresses the spreading (scattering) of electric charge from the needle-like center electrode, it is possible to improve detection accuracy.
