A portable phone (1) has a display unit (18) rotatable about an axis vertical to the display screen of the display unit (18) and fixed at least at one of two kinds of positions. The portable phone (1) comprises a position judgment section (31) for judging a position of the display unit (18) and a view angle control section (40) for changing the width and narrowness of the view angle of the display unit (18) in a certain view angle control direction corresponding to the position judged by the position judgment section (31). A liquid crystal display device is thus obtained that can properly maintain the view angle according to a use condition of the display unit.
