A crash-active head support is provided to reduce manufacturing cost by integrating a traction contour and a support contour to a carrier. A crash-active head support for a vehicle seat comprises a carrier(5), an impinging element(13) installed to move relative to the carrier, a spring(21) used as a drive device and a crash safety device. The crash safety device prevents the impinging element from being inserted when a crash occurs. In addition, the crash safety device moves together with a traction support unit(41) and is guided along a traction contour(43). When a shock is given to the impinging element, the traction support is reacted to a support contour(47) of the carrier while the traction support unit forms the crash safety device, so as to support the impinging element to the carrier.
