LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND PROJECTION DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress picture quality degradation due to a polarizer and to improve light resistance.

SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes: a drive side substrate 1 on which a driving transistor 5, a pixel electrode 6 and an alignment layer are formed; an opposite side substrate 2 on which a counter electrode and an alignment layer are formed; liquid crystal 4 sealed between the pixel electrode 6 of the drive side substrate 1 and the counter electrode of the opposite side substrate 2; and a reflection type inorganic polarizer formed between the driving transistor 5 and the pixel electrode 6 on the drive side substrate 1. A projection display device using such a liquid crystal display device is also provided.
