PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying apparatus equipped with a conveyance object-holding unit inserting a soft conveyance object in a recess of a mold without causing a wrinkle, deformation or the like, and a conveying method of the conveying apparatus. SOLUTION: The conveying apparatus comprises a conveyance object-holding unit for conveying a plate-like molded article (finished molded article) 100 made by inserting a soft insert article (the conveyance object) 91 into a cavity 74 of a mold composed of one mold 71 and another mold 72 and injecting a thermoplastic resin into the cavity 74 to integrate the insert article 91 with the resin. The conveyance object-holding unit comprises a main body 11, a holding means 15 for holding the insert article 91, an elastic plate member 24 for pressing the insert article 91 inserted into a recessed part 73 to the inner wall of the recessed part 73 while expanding it from the center side to the outer peripheral part, and an elastic plate member driving body 21 for moving the elastic plane member 24 forward and backward.
