PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid material confining system which is set up so as to accommodate therein a granular fluid material and forms a temporary barrier structure. SOLUTION: The fluid material confining system 10 is formed of a plurality of long and generally strip-shaped members which are coupled to each other to define an array of open-end cells 12. The strip-shaped members include a plurality of longitudinal strips 14 and a plurality of transverse strips 16. The longitudinal strips 14 may include first large-width strips 14a and second small-width strips 14b. The longitudinal strips 14 may include strips having connectors of different types. The arrangement of the longitudinal strips 14 and the transverse strips 16, as shown in the figure, defines at least two different types of cells, i.e. internal cells 12a and external boundary cells 12b.
