The connecting rod has a shaft and an eye, whereby the eye of the connecting rod has a first run-in level (118, 120) transverse to the connecting rod eye axis (121) on at least one side. The first run-in level has a taring region produced by mechanical removal of material. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a connecting rod.
