A component for an electrochemical cell is disclosed which comprises a ma ss of electrochemically active paste with two or more electrically conductiv e, electrically isolated electrodes embedded in it. Terminals protrude from the mass and are electrically connected to the electrodes. The mass can be s elf supporting or can be in the form of a layer which is on one face of a po rous substrate.
