A polyfunctional epoxy resin coating composition containing a rust-preventive pigment which comprises (A) a polyfunctional epoxy resin, (B) a modified aliphatic polyamine, (C) a rust-preventive pigment, (D) a silane coupling agent, and (E) a water adsorbent. When applied to, e.g., the inner tank wall surface of an LNG ship, this coating composition enables the hull, especially the inner hull, to be bonded through the mastic to a heat-shielding layer to be formed on the inner circumferential surface of the hull. The coating film thus obtained has high bonding strength at ultralow temperatures (e.g.,-25°C) and rust-preventive performance.
