<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To settle the situation that technologies have been proposed for improvement in efficiency in color processing to be performed when generating print data from image data but there is still room for enhancement. <P>SOLUTION: An image is divided into a plurality of blocks, a compressed image generated by a compression method applying DCT to each of the blocks is decoded and in accordance with a DCT coefficient in a decoded block, the relevant block is classified (S11, S13, S15).
