<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform further proper control in response to a vehicle state, when stopping operation of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: When automatically stopping an engine when stopping condition of idly stopping is realized, when a shift position SP is a travel position such as a D position, operation of the engine is stopped by accompanying stopping position control for stopping the engine in a crank angle position for improving startability of the engine and pre-stopping fuel injection control for injecting fuel before stopping to a cylinder becoming the first compression stroke of the next starting (S100, and S150). When the shift position SP is a position not for travel such as a P position and an N position, the operation of the engine is stopped without accompanying the stopping position control and the pre-stopping fuel injection control for improving the startability of the engine (S100).
