PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain unified color reproduction between a plurality of similar images. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus performs color processing for converting image data represented in a first color gamut into image data of a second color gamut different from the first color gamut. In that case, an image input unit 106 registers a plurality of image data items in an image database 112 by categories. An image feature amount calculation unit 107 calculates an image feature amount of image data, for each category, registered in the image database 112. In response to a user instruction based on the image feature amount, a mapping method selection unit 108 sets color processing to be applied to the image data by categories.
