PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently keep sliding condition between a sliding bearing and a crankshaft even when the sliding bearing is displaced by the deformation of a cylinder block. SOLUTION: Before an engine 1 is assembled, the plate thickness T1 of each of upper bearings 7a of No. 1 and No. 5 sliding bearings 7 is made thick, the plate thickness T2 of each of lower bearings 7b thereof is reduced, the plate thickness T1 of each of the upper bearings of No. 2 to No. 4 sliding bearings positioned on the inner side thereof is reduced, and the plate thickness T2 of each of lower bearings thereof is incleased, thereby the center of each of the No. 2 to No. 4 sliding bearings is displaced to a cylinder block side with respect to the center of each of No. 1 and No. 5 sliding bearings. When the cylinder block 2 is deformed by assembling the engine and the No. 1 and No. 5 sliding bearings are displaced to the cylinder block side, the centers of the inner peripheral surfaces of the sliding bearings are displaced in a direction where they mutually approach in accordance with deformation and displacement.
