An AED coating composition comprising, apart from water, (A) 1 to 20, relative to the resin solids content of the composition, of at least one resin with functional groups selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups, free isocyanate groups and blocked isocyanate groups, the resin is present as particles with melting temperatures from 40 to 200° C., (B) at least one film-forming, self- or externally cross-linking AED binder different from resin (A), and (C) optionally, at least one component selected from the group consisting of cross-linking agents, paste resins, grinding resins, nonionic resins, fillers, pigments, fillers, extenders, coating additives and organic solvents; the AED coating compositions have a distinctly reduced or no edge migration behavior upon deposition and baking.
