<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of improving the convenience, when multiple people view and listen different video an sound, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: A user can change display status of a display part 11 from the full-screen display status to the two-screens display status, by taking out a remote control R2 from a remote control housing portion 4. A user can listen sound, corresponding to video newly displayed after the two screens display by connecting a headphone H to a sound output terminal 65 of the remote control R2.
