<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transmittance of a liquid crystal panel while maintaining a high contrast ratio in a transmission type liquid crystal projector system on which a vertical alignment liquid crystal element is mounted. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal projector device comprises an incident side polarizing plate 24 and an emission side polarizing plate 26 arranged on the incident side and emission side of the liquid crystal panel 25, respectively, a first polarized light component of a beam condensed by an illumination optical system is transmitted through the incident side polarizing plate 24 and guided to the liquid crystal panel 25, and a second polarized light component of a beam emitted from the liquid crystal panel 25 is transmitted through the emission side polarizing plate 26 and guided to a projection lens. The angle of an optical anisotropic element 45 arranged between the incident side polarizing plate 24 and the liquid crystal panel 2 or between the emission side polarizing plate 26 and the liquid crystal panel 25 is inclined according to the alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules on the liquid crystal panel 25. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
