PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging method capable of efficiently and inexpensively charging a nickel hydrogen storage battery, even in the case of a direct current source using natural energy such as solar power generation or the like. SOLUTION: As a charging unit, a plurality of nickel hydrogen storage battery cells, which constitute a packed battery, is divided into a plurality of storage battery modules comprising one or a plurality of cells, and the divided storage battery module is charged, switching the storage battery module, whenever a prescribed charging time threshold value elapses at every charging unit. Namely, when a storage battery module to be charged is selected (S01) and the present accumulated current capacity is below a prescribed accumulated current capacitor threshold value (YES in S01), the storage battery module is connected to the charger (S03) to start charging and to activate a timer (S04), and when the prescribed charging time threshold value is reached (YES in S04), the charging operation is switched to the next storage battery module (S06, S07).
