PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current position specifying device for a vehicle capable of appropriately correcting a current position of its own vehicle, while suppressing the consumption of imaging means and increase in power consumption. SOLUTION: The current position specifying device (1) for the vehicle is equipped with a current position specifying means (11, 20, 30) for specifying the current position of own vehicle, an imaging means (50) capable of imaging a reference object for correction near own vehicle; a map information storage mean (40) stored with map information, including the positions of reference objects for correction; a retrieval determination means (12) for determining whether the reference object for correction exists inside a predetermined area in front of own vehicle, by retrieving the map information through the use of the current position of own vehicle specified by the current position specifying means; and a current position correction means (13) for operating the imaging means, when it is determined by the retrieval determination means that the reference object for correction exists in the predetermined area; and correcting the current position of own vehicle specified by the current position specifying means, on the basis of the reference object for correction imaged by the imaging means.
