PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst enabling the polymerization of a polyolefin powder having controlled particle shape to give a low bulk density and useful as a raw material for a porous material having low air-flow resistance and to provide a method for producing a polyolefin powder by using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The invention provides an olefin polymerization catalyst produced by supporting a specific titanium compound on a carrier produced by reacting a specific organic magnesium compound with a specific chlorinated silicon compound and applying mechanical shear stress to the obtained solid particle and a method for producing a polyolefin powder by using the polymerization catalyst.
