PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television set with a built-in video recorder which performs recording for a long time without deteriorating video quality. SOLUTION: Since the maximum displayable field angle size stored by a device such as the television set is automatically obtained, when field angle size of a digital video signal input from a receiver exceeds the maximum field angle size capable of being displayed by a display device, the field angle size is automatically resized into the maximum displayable field angle size and recording is performed with the resized field angle size, an information rate is reduced to the one suitable for display capability of a display part of a digital television recorder and video images for a long time are recorded in a limited hard disk.
