PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based coating composition capable of keeping a corrosion prevention effect over a long period by improving the sacrifice corrosion prevention effect with zinc and preventing the intrusion of corrosive factors such as water. SOLUTION: The water-based coating composition dilutable with water is composed of a binder containing zinc, aluminum and magnesium compounds and composed mainly of a water-soluble or hydrolyzable organic titanate, wherein the titanium content in the organic titanate is≥3 wt.% based on the zinc.
