The present invention relates to an assay device for determining the pres ence and/or amount of an analyte of interest in a sample, the assay device c omprising a sample receiving liquid container for containing a liquid and ad apted to receive the sample into said liquid, the liquid container comprisin g a first openable liquid seal and a second openable liquid seal, an opening means capable of opening a first liquid seal, and an assay means for determ ining the presence and/or amount of an analyte of interest in the sample. Th e invention also relates to a method of determining the presence and/or amou nt of an analyte of interest in a sample using the assay device of the inven tion, and to components of the assay device.
