<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network controller which improves the power saving effect of a device on which a plurality of communication ports are mounted, and its control method. <P>SOLUTION: There provided are: a plurality of first processing means which are arranged correspondently to a plurality of communication ports connected to a network and which process the physical layer of a communication function via the network; a plurality of second processing means which are arranged correspondently to the plurality of the first processing means and which process the media access control sublayer of the communication function; and a plurality of third processing means which are arranged correspondently to the plurality of the second processing means and which process layers above the media access control sublayer of the communication function. When one of the plurality of the third processing means is controlled to a power saving status, another third processing means, other than the third processing means controlled to the power saving status, which is not controlled to the power saving status acquires processing information from the second processing means corresponding to the third processing means controlled to the power saving status, and the another third processing means performs processing in place of the third processing means controlled to the power saving status. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
