<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve utilization efficiency of resources of a device monitoring system. <P>SOLUTION: A management server 106 stores device machine-dependent database of a device as a monitoring target of a device monitoring module and a monitoring target database. In the machine-dependent database, the type and the like of information processable by the management server are stored for each machine type. When the database is updated, according to the updated content, notification setting information designating information to be notified by the device is created and transmitted to the management server.
