<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cascade solar cell including amorphous silicon that absorbs light ranging from ultraviolet light to visible light. <P>SOLUTION: A non-silicon based solar cell that consists of an active material layer 101 made of a compound semiconductor, an organic semiconductor, or the like is formed on a GaAs substrate 102. An amorphous silicon layer 106 is formed on the non-silicon based solar cell via a conductive interface structure 105 that is a semiconductor tunnel junction or the like to form an amorphous silicon-based solar cell.
