PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device of improved convenience by presenting recording program information close to a user's taste and a reproduction starting position in a recording program based on the viewing history of a user. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device is provided with an operation part 110 which reads management information included in video and audio data to store the management information in a storage part 109, wherein the operation part 110, when the video and audio data is reproduced by a video and audio decoding part 105, reads the management information associated with the reproduced video and audio data from the storage part 109, acquires the current date and time information from a clock control part 115 to generate a reproduction operation table in which the management information is associated with the date and time information.
