PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alicyclic carboxylic acid usable as a reactive raw material or an intermediate raw material for various kinds of functional compounds. SOLUTION: The epoxytetracyclododecanecarboxylic acids represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>3</SB>are each independently a 1-6C alkyl group or a hydrogen atom) and obtained by using tetracyclododecenecarboxylic acids as direct raw materials, and oxidizing the unsaturated group thereof with an oxidant such as an organic peroxide, and the method for producing the compound are provided.
