PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying to obtain a purified vinylnaphthalene compound with a low content of a naphthalene compound. SOLUTION: The method for purifying the vinylnaphthalene compound comprises a step of preparing a water-soluble alcohol solution in which the vinylnaphthalene compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, R represents an ester group, an alkoxycarbonyloxy group or hydroxy group) is dissolved and a step of depositing the vinylnaphthalene compound from the water-soluble alcohol solution.
