摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free magnetic garnet single crystal having a small optical absorption and also a film thickness of≥200μm and a reduced 45°loss of≤0.1 dB so as to be used for a Faraday rotor or the like in optical communication. SOLUTION: A magnetic garnet single crystal grown by an LPE method is represented by the formula: Bi<SB>x</SB>Na<SB>y</SB>Ca<SB>z</SB>M1<SB>3-x-y-z</SB>Fe<SB>5-v-w</SB>Pt<SB>v</SB>M2<SB>w</SB>O<SB>12</SB>, and M1 is at least one or more elements selected from among Y, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu, and M2 is at least one or more elements selected from among Ga, Al and In, and 0.8<x≤1.5, 0<y<0.02, 0.01<z<0.09, 0.04<v<0.19, 0≤w<1.5 and also z/y≥4 and z/v≥0.3.
