Provided is a variable capacitor comprising a first electrode portion disposed in a stationary portion containing a substrate, and a movable portion including a second electrode portion for establishing the capacity of the variable capacitor between itself and the first electrode portion. The movable portion is so displaced in response to a first drive signal as to establish a confronting state, in which the second electrode portion confronts the first electrode portion, and an unconfronting state, in which the second electrode portion does not confront the first electrode portion substantially. This variable capacitor can acquire at least two-valued capacities at a high ratio without especially needing another capacitor or a switch, and a desired capacity varying range can be acquired by combining a plurality of capacitors. |
