METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING BROADCAST DATA IN A WIRELESS ACCESS SYSTEM

A method and a system for transmitting/receiving broadcasting data in a wireless access system are provided to reduce the number of modulated frames in an initial state so as to receive a broadcasting message, thereby reducing the power consumption of a mobile station and reducing power consumption during frequent switching of broadcasting channels. A mobile station receives an MBS(Multicast and Broadcast Service) frame including a DL(DownLink) MAP message from a base station(303). The mobile station determines whether an MBS MAP IE(Information Element) for informing MBS MAP message allocation information and symbol location where an MBS area is started is present in the DL MAP(305). If so, the mobile station is transited into a dormant state(307). The mobile station determines whether an MBS MAP message is present by confirming whether an MBS MAP Ind(Indicate) value included in the MBS MAP IE is 1(309). If so, the mobile station receives an MBS frame including the MBS MAP message and analyzes an MBS DATA IE included in the MBS MAP message(313). The mobile station determines whether an MCID(Multicast Connection Identification) allocated to the mobile station is present in the MBS DATA IE(315). If so, the mobile station receives MBS data burst allocated to the [next MBS burst frame offset+a] of the next MBS frame, and is transited into a normal state(317). The mobile station receives the next MBS frame after the next MBS frame offset in the normal state, and confirms an MBS MAP message(319). The mobile station analyzes the MBS DATA IE included in the MBS MAP messag. If an MCID by a broadcasting channel selected by a mobile station user is currently in the MBS DATA IE, the mobile station receives the next MBS data burst allocated to the [next MBS burst frame offset+a] included in the MBS DATA IE(321).
