<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-board imaging apparatus which can distinguish a light of an oncoming vehicle from a light reflected from an object and accurately detect the head-light of an oncoming vehicle if a bright area is included in an image photographed by a photographing means. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing unit ECU 1 detects a high-brightness slash image that crosses with the trace of the end of a wiper from an image outputted from a camera 2. Based on the detected high-brightness slash image, a light source, such as the head-light of an oncoming vehicle, is detected.
