<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the recording capacity of document for document check as much as possible by discovering a problem at a stage as early as possible and reducing the required cost. <P>SOLUTION: A remote monitor comprises an office appliance having a function for reading out image data, and a section connected with the office appliance through an information transmission path and displaying the image data thus read out. The office appliance has a first image storage means for holding two-dimensional image information read out, a means for encoding the two-dimensional image information held in the first image storage means in response to a predetermined designation, a means for editing the first encoded data, and a communication means for transferring second encoded data generated by editing encoded data to a remote monitor unit.
