PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mah-jong system with which players can contest without sense of incongruity and which can carry out mah-jong tile hand record, point calculation, and illegal action detection. SOLUTION: Players contest with mah-jong tiles 5 including non-contact IC tags 41 at a mah-jong table 3 and the like having non-contact reader-writers 51 in four piles 7, four rivers 9, four hand-tile depots 11, four open tile depots 13 and one special tile depot 15. The mah-jong table 3 carries out mah-jong tile hand record, point calculation, and illegal action detection according to the information on the locations and the like of the mah-jong tiles 5 sent from the non-contact reader-writers 51.
