PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleep determining device highly accurately detecting the waking state of a sleeper before falling asleep. SOLUTION: If detected body movement signals are lower than a threshold for determination successively for at least a prescribed period of time before the sleeper falls asleep, the state of the sleeper is determined to be the sleeping state, and determined to be the waking state in other situations. If detected body movement signals exceed the threshold for determination successively for at least the prescribed period of time after the sleeper falls asleep, it is determined to be the waking state, and determined to be the sleeping state in other situations.
