The arrangement has an axial bearing (18) provided for a gripper shaft (11), where the bearing is supported in a gripper bridge (4) connected with a drum body (1) of a transfer drum and in a flange (17) connected with the shaft. A torsion bar (24) is stressed in a string, such that a bearing unit (7) and the flange supporting the axial bearing lie in the bearing in a free-from-play manner. The bar is provided in an interior of the shaft, where one end of the bar is connected with the shaft in a torque proof manner and other end of the bar is connected with the body.
