The gas-generator (10) comprises a housing (12), which has a combustion chamber (14). A gas generant (16) is arranged in the combustion chamber for generating gas. A winding body (13) is provided in the housing, which is made from web-shaped material. The web-shaped material is selected from paper, paper containing composite materials and plastic sheets. The winding body is attached on a container (18), surrounding the combustion chamber. The container is made from metal sheet, expanded metal or a screen. The web-shaped material is a coated paper made of plastic or aluminum.
