<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of easily compensating retardation of light passing through a liquid crystal and suitable for miniaturization. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal device (1) provided with a pair of substrates (10, 20) provided with alignment layers (16, 22), respectively, the liquid crystal (50) interposed between the pair of substrates and an optical compensation layer (201) compensating light passing through the liquid crystal, one surface of one substrate of the pair of substrates is formed so as to be inclined and the optical compensation layer is disposed on the surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
