PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus capable of preventing a steady deterioration in a reception level generated under the impact of multipath and reducing the number of terminals which become in a state of reception impossible. SOLUTION: The radio communication apparatus has antennas 3-1 to 3-M capable of changing directivity patterns, and performs radio communications with a terminal as a directivity pattern is changed with a predetermined period. The apparatus includes a transmitting antenna directivity pattern table 5, an antenna directivity control portion 6, and an antenna directivity switching portion 4. The transmitting antenna directivity pattern table 5 stores antenna weights. Each of the antenna weights corresponds to each range obtained by dividing a variation range of the directivity pattern by a predetermined number. The antenna directivity control portion 6 reads and sends out the antenna weight stored in the transmitting antenna directivity pattern table 5 with a predetermined time interval. The antenna directivity switching portion 4 generates a directivity pattern for the antennas 3-1 to 3-M, based on the antenna weight sent out from the transmitting antenna directivity pattern table 5.
