PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of upgrading easily the firmware of old version. SOLUTION: This communication system includes the first communication device provided with a first processing part for carrying out network communication processing, and a first storage part for storing the first firmware for operating the first processing part, and a second communication device provided with a second processing part for carrying out network communication processing, and a second storage part for storing the second firmware that is an upgraded version of the first firmware for operating the second processing part, and the first firmware. The second communication device is provided with a downgrading means for downgrading the second firmware to the first firmware to allow communication with the first communication device, a transmission part for transmitting the second firmware stored in the second storage part to the first communication device, and a grade restoration means for upgrading the downgraded firmware to the second firmware.
