PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil improving method which is carried out by avoiding increase of the number of steps, of materials, etc. to the possible extent, to thereby economically prevent consolidation settlement of soft ground, and to provide a soil improving body. SOLUTION: The soil improving method contributes to prevention of the consolidation settlement of the soft ground by the soil improving body which is obtained by supplying a hardener into the soft ground, mixing and agitating the hardener in the soft ground, and hardening the former and the latter. The soil improving method is composed of: (A) a pile-shaped hardened portion forming step of supplying the hardener into the soft ground, mixing and agitating the hardener in the soft ground, and forming a pile-shaped hardened portion consisting of the hardener and the soft ground; and (B) an expanded hardened portion forming step of supplying the hardener into the soft ground in a manner being connected to the periphery of an upper portion of the pile-shaped hardened portion, mixing and agitating the hardener in the soft ground, and combining the resultant expanded hardened portion consisting of the hardener and the soft ground, with the pile-shaped hardened portion, in one body.
