PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing MgB<SB>2</SB>thin film in a process without using a vacuum pump. SOLUTION: The method for producing a superconductive boron compound MgB<SB>2</SB>thin film comprises putting a reaction vessel containing a powdery starting material prepared by mixing magnesium chloride (MgCl<SB>2</SB>), sodium chloride (NaCl), potassium chloride (KCl), magnesium borate (MgB<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>) and optionally boron (B), in a furnace, melting the powdery starting material by heating the furnace while making an argon gas atmosphere around the reaction vessel, applying a direct current electricity between electrodes arranged in the reaction vessel, confirming that the electric current flows through the molten material, and then allowing the molten material to stand, to thereby return the temperature of the molten material to room temperature.
