PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate positioning of parts and an inspection member in assembling parts or making inspection to an equipment case by an operator's manual operation using a tool. SOLUTION: This tool lifting device 10 is constituted to assemble parts into an AT case 80 with the tool 35 mounted to the lower end of a rod 33 extending downward from a horizontal plate 30. A vertically movable base member 45 is mounted to the rod 33. When the operator applies downward force to a slider 25, the horizontal plate 30, the tool 35 and the base member 45 are interlocked to move downward, and after the base member 45 is set into a reference position of the AT case 80, the horizontal plate 30 and the tool 35 move downward. Since the base member 45 can be slightly moved in a horizontal direction by a floating mechanism 50 together with the horizontal plate 30, even if the relative positions of the AT case 80 and tool 35 deviate, the deviation can be easily corrected.
