PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a recording method which provides a high image quality while maintaining speed-up of image forming by the recorder. SOLUTION: The recorder has a recording head, wherein part of the recording area where ends of recording element arrays arranged in a first and second head chips are overlapped with each other, is used for recording by the recording elements of both the first and second head chips.
