The protective device for installing sharp-edged tools, especially milling heads, comprises a holding device (12) which can be held in the hand, and a holding device (14) rotatably arranged in the hand-held holding device for holding the tool. The tool holding device is centered in the hand-held holding device by a spigot (18) which is located in an opening (20). The hand-held holding device and tool holding device each have a collar (24,22). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a tool set for holding several sharp-edged tools, especially milling heads, including at least one protective device; and (2) a method for installing a sharp-edged tool, especially a milling head, with a protective device.
