A heavy load vehicle tire comprises a bead structure having two reinforcing layers (6,7) adjacent to the inner side of the carcass turned up ply (2a) and a chafer layer (8) comprising reinforcing elements. The reinforcing layers (6,7) are preferably made of steel cords comprising preformed filaments, said cords being inclined at angles between + 10° to + 35° and - 10° to - 35° with respect to the radial plane of the tire.
